Paul says
Every silver maple I have ever seen has multiple leaders. Is this because nobody prunes them to a single leader or it is the nature of the tree?
patrick@educatedclimber.com says
Hey Paul, Professor Gilman’s take on the ‘single, central leader’ structure is purely based on absolute wind resistance/strength. He is not saying that every tree should look like that, just that they would be stronger if they did. Trees and tree work would be incredibly boring if all trees had that same structure! Thanks for watching!
